Spying and Monitoring
Network operators as well as card and handset manufacturers need to monitor (spy on, or "sniff") the communication between card and handset to identify any problems at the card/handset interface. Understanding the communication is vital for efficient debugging and problem solving. Aspects' efficient hardware, the SmartStation3 and SmartStation3 LE, and powerful spy tools software translate bits and bytes into English according to the latest protocols and display it in an easy to read format. Aspects work closely with Micropross so that our software works with their hardware.
Aspects Spy is excellent for spying on GSM and 3G and includes support for SWP/HCI. It couples a user-friendly user interface to powerful translation. In-built inspections help error finding and powerful searches and filters help you focus on what is important.
Aspects has over ten years' experience of producing tools for spying and debugging the communication between handsets and SIM or USIM cards. Our spy tools are built to be easy to use. Training and consultancy is available to help users optimise their work, but neither is necessary to get up and running. You can set up the Aspects system and start spying less than an hour after receiving our tools.
Aspects’ testing covers the three levels common to all card and handset communication, electrical, protocol and application:
- Application behaviour is monitored, command by command, byte by byte
- Translations for protocol calls and element timing information are included
- Signal errors are reported
Using our tools you can spy on live sessions with real or simulated devices or review previously saved sessions. Saved sessions can be shared with users elsewhere, or passed to a testing group to form the foundation for wider test discussions, analysis and resolution.
